All Turkish dialects covered

Of the roughly 80 million Turkish speakers in the world, the majority speak the main, almost-standardised form of the language sometimes referred to as Istanbul Turkish or Turkey Turkish.

However, there are numerous dialects. The Cypriot Turkish (Kıbrıs Türkçesi) spoken by Turkish Cypriots is prominent amongst them. Others include Karamnli Turkish (used by some Turkish-speaking peoples in Greece), Rumelian Turkish, Syrian Turkmen, Iraqi Turkmen and Meskhetian.

No matter which part of the Turkish-speaking world you are targeting though, Asian Absolute will ensure you get your message across. We do the same if you are a Turkish-speaking business targeting an English-speaking community in the UK, the US or elsewhere.

Select expertise ideal for your project

To accomplish the sheer range of Turkish translation projects we take on for our clients, we need experts in many different fields.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Turkish language Arabic?
The official language of Turkey is Turkish, the mother tongue of over 85% of the population. Around 12% of the Turkish population have Kurmanji (a dialect of Kurdish) as their first language. Arabic is spoken by a comparatively small 2% of the population.

Arabic and Turkish actually have very little in common. Everything from the language groups they hail from to their vocabulary, grammar, and even their sounds are very different. The only tiny similarities are in some shared religious terms and a few loanwords.

What is the alphabet of Turkey?

Following a millennium of being written in the Arabic script, modern Turkish has used a Latin Alphabet since 1928. There are 29 letters altogether – a, b, c, ç, d, e, f, g, ğ, h, ı, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, ö, p, r, s, ş, t, u, ü, v, y, and z.

There are no q, w, or z and the upper case of “ı” and “i” are “I” and “İ” respectively.

Where is Turkish spoken?

Most Turkish speakers (around 74 million of an estimated global total of at most 80 million) reside in Turkey. You will also find numerous Turkish speakers in Cyprus, across the Middle East, and in Europe – most particularly in Germany.

The language has the unique claim to fame of being an official language in only one country but on two continents. This is due to Turkey’s geography, partly in Asia and partly in Europe.
